Environmental Statement

Projekt 7 Construction intends to manage its environmental impact during the conduct of work its undertakes and to detail the organisation and factors considered when carrying out this policy. It also draws attention to its ongoing commitment to align with UK Government policy enshrined in The Climate Change Act 2008 to achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 and the interim targets to reduce by 68% by 2030 and 78% by 2035, compared to 1990 levels. Projekt 7 Construction is also a Licensed Waste Carrier Waste by the UK Environment Agency No CBDU404942. 

Projekt 7 Construction recognises the need to operate the business in a manner which reflects good environmental management complying with the latest regulations and utilising industry best practises. The Company is aware of the environmental impacts of its operations and will balance its business with the need to protect the local, national and global environment. Projekt 7 Construction is committed to the principles of sustainable development and that ethos is integrated into our day to day works. These matters have for us become a business-critical issue as it should be for any serious construction company looking to the future. 

Our Environmental Policy shall earn the confidence of employees, shareholders, stakeholders, customers and the general public by demonstrating our commitment to comply with all relevant environmental legislation and minimise pollution, creation of waste, where feasible, through the continual improvement of performance in all areas of the Company. 

The Company has demonstrated a commitment to identify all activities that have the potential to cause an environmental impact, as well as providing adequate resources to help minimise or prevent any negative impact.

Management 

• We understand the potential environmental impacts of our work and apply robust systems to reduce risk and positively promote opportunities
• We comply with all applicable legislation, client and stakeholder requirements, and are committed to fulfilling our compliance obligations 
• Through training, and other communications we ensure our employees and suppliers are aware of and adopt this environmental policy 
• This policy statement is displayed on our sites to inform our people and visitors of our commitments and is distributed to our clients, suppliers and interested parties 
• Processes and procedures are fully integrated into corporate management systems to ensure we meet the commitments in this policy 
• We are committed to continual improvement of our management system to enhance environmental performance. 
• Identify all environmental impacts that the Company contributes to, and establish environmental management procedures that can be incorporated into all day to day business decisions, in a cost-effective manner. 
• Regularly measure and evaluate our environmental performance and improve where necessary. 
• Promote a culture of continual environmental improvement within the Company. 
• Delegate the responsibility for environmental matters to the appropriate levels in the Company. 
• Consistently increase the awareness and provide necessary training to all our employees and customers to ensure environmentally responsible concepts are integrated into their normal working practices. 
• Demonstrate control of all our operations and ensure that all are performed with due consideration of the environment. 
• Identify and mitigate against potential accidents that could result in an environmental impact, so that if an accident did occur the consequences would be minimised. 
• Use products that have a negligible or least environmental impact, where appropriate options exist. 
• Minimise the storage and use of all articles and substances providing a substantial environmental hazard, where appropriate. 
• Reduce the consumption of resources (energy, materials, packaging), such as turning off lights and heat when not required. 
• Minimise waste through a commitment to reuse, recover or recycle, where feasible. 
• Compliance with all UK environmental legal requirements, regulations, and guidance.
• Integration of environmental factors into business decisions.
• Advance planning of working systems and practices so as to give due consideration as to their potential environmental impact.
• To prevent the illegal deposit, disposal or treatment of controlled waste by any person where that waste has been or will be under the control of the company.
• Where possible seek to influence the design and specification of construction projects so as to ensure that environmental impact is minimised as far as it reasonably practical.
• Ensuring considered use of resources of all kinds, including the promotion of recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible.
• Establishing company procedures to ensure that waste is managed in line with UK and local environmental legislation and that all parties involved in the waste production, transportation, transfer and disposal process comply with their Duty of Care regarding waste control.
• Periodically review environmental legislation to which the organisation’s activities are subject to ensure continued compliance with both the letter and spirit of legislation.
• Comply with the requirements of the UK Timber Regulations and the Timber & Timber Products (Placing on the Market) Regulations.
• Ensure that all subcontractors / suppliers working on our behalf hold appropriate environmental permits / licences.
• Ensure that timber / timber products are supplied with CPET Category A/B from sustainable sources and evidence as appropriate.
• Provide information to individuals regarding the monitoring of the Company Environmental Procedures.
• Provide copies of this Environmental Policy Statement to all employees
• Ensure all employees have an understanding and are trained in their responsibilities in relation to the environmental policy and procedures.

Protecting the environment not only makes good commercial sense but is also an investment in our joint futures. Projekt 7 is conscious that all of our programs and processes affect the communities who live and work in those places. 

Projekt 7 Construction objectives

• Community Engagement

Projekt 7 will always engage in a proactive and positive manner with the local communities and those local authorities that represent and manage the built environment. This may include community and neighbourhood representatives that are affected by our works to help address their concerns, keep them informed and work with them to find solutions to any perceived problems. The main issues usually surround, inconvenience, traffic disruption, aesthetics, noise, dust and longevity of works. Projekt 7 will not just adhere to the minimum requirements of the local authority and planning requirements, it will seek to be cleaner, caring about the environment and as good a temporary neighbour as construction programs will allow.  

• Traffic Management Plans

Minimising traffic, noise, dust, waiting times and use of fossil fuels vehicles will turn off engines whilst waiting. Routing vehicles on roads appropriate for vehicle size and avoiding sensitive locations or areas of natural beauty as designated by the Local Authority. Avoiding transfer of mud soil and waste debris from a site to the highway.

• Cumulative impacts 

Dust and air quality control are important considerations, during the whole life of the project and particularly during the demolition of structures and heavy construction operations including the cutting of timber and stone. Monitoring systems should be implemented where appropriate. Tools and equipment fitted with noise and dust suppression. Air quality where other factors may affect workers such a gases, fumes, carbon monoxide and Co2.

• Pollution Control

Best practice techniques and behaviours are employed to prevent pollution arising from our activities. We prioritise collaboration with our suppliers, clients and partners to pioneer new solutions to reduce environmental nuisance and airborne particulates.

• Water resources

Minimising use of and no wasting of water. Prevention of the discharge of any toxic fluids, waste or slurry onto land, into drains and safe methods of removal from the site.

• Urban ecological management

Protection of trees, flora and fauna and where possible increasing green areas.

• Utilising renewable sources of energy

Wind, Solar, Heat recovery and encouraging use within the projects undertaken.

• Net Zero – Adopting, The Science Based Initiative (SBTi). Developing and defining a net zero strategy. Working with our supply chain to understand our role in delivering the most sustainable materials to our building projects. Working with our clients on BREEAM targets and continued assessment during the life cycle of projects. 
• Reducing energy used during construction

Responsible use of power, lighting, during the night when not required for work or safety.
